TL;DR: I could make a good profit from Labubu. I'm choosing not to because blind boxes push people to buy more than they need, and because I prioritize timeless, safe, quality plush toys that last.

Amuseables Burger from Jellycat - Jellycat is a much better choice in my opinion...
I have actually considered Labubu.
Yes, Labubu would sell. But popularity alone is not a mark of quality. I want what you buy to be loved and used – not sit in a drawer.
Why I say no
- Blind box = buy more than you need. You often have to buy multiple boxes to "get the right one." This creates unnecessary consumption and waste.
- Trend > quality. A lot of hype, little longevity. I prefer products that are popular because they are good – not just because "everyone else" has them.
- Ethics and environment are unclear. I don't know how they are made. For me, considerations for people and the planet weigh heavily (think: responsible consumption and production).
Buy this instead
- Jellycat: Timeless favorites that have stood the test of time – soft, safe, and loved.
- Hansa Creation: Lifelike quality with handcrafted details that children actually play with.
- Living Nature & Teddykompaniet: Safe materials, good stitching, made to last.
